Shoetopia brings designer shoes to downtown Aiken

Stacey Manney's new business Shoetopia is bringing a new look in fashion footwear to Laurens Street.

Located at 122 Laurens St. N.W., Shoetopia carries women's shoes in sizes 5 to 11 in a range of widths, at prices ranging from $28 to $144, specializing in brands such as Nicole, Yellow Box and Charleston Shoe Co., among others. Manney began the business in Vinya's boutique, and was there for four months before closing for a month and reopening just over four weeks ago at the new location, she said.

"I love downtown. Since we moved here 13 years ago I have always shopped downtown," China chocolate machinery suppliershe said. "I think it's a great place. The owners are in their stores and you get a lot of personal customer service. So I was looking downtown, happened to find this location, and it was just perfect. I thought I needed to offer Aiken a nice, good-looking, well made designer shoe at an affordable price - you don't walk in and right away get intimidated by those prices. Manney said the store has room to expand, and after she gets the business established will consider adding lines in children's and men's shoes.

"I've had really good response to the shoes I carry and to the price range,China chocolate machinery and I've had a lot of traffic coming in. I've had a lot of women coming in who need a narrow shoe, and these Charleston Shoe Co. shoes are great for that because it has a stretchy fabric over the foot. If a special order shoe does not work, the customer can return it for a store credit and find something that does, Manney said.
